Surgery On Woman

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright)

SYDNEY, Oct. 11.

A doctor performed an operation under a train yesterday after the train wheels had cut off a woman’s legs at Maitland, 120 miles north of Sydney. After the operation, a policeman lying on his stomach on the platform, held the woman against the side of the platform while the train was moved clear.

The woman, Mrs Bessie McGrath, aged 68, later died in hospital.
