Tops Poll Again
For the second year in succession, D. C. McKenzie, the marathon runner, has won the West Coast “sportsman of the year” trophy by public vote. McKenzie, the Canterbury and marathon champion, who was unable to accompany the New Zealand team to the recent Commonwealth Games in Jamaica because of a leg injury, received his trophy at a sportsmen’s dinner on Saturday night G. M. Kennedy, the New Zealand Rugby League representative, was second, and A. Twohill, the New Zealand amateur billiards champion, third. This was the second function of its kind to be organised by the Greymouth Marist . Rugby League Club.—(F.O.O.R., Greymouth)
