Me Keeken. took double honours at New Plymouth yesterday when he won the New Zealand 75mile senior £nd junior road cycling championships. McKeeken outsprinted two scratch riders. G. Wills and W Gundersen, both of New Plymouth. to win in 3hr 16min 12sec. 13min slower than the record held by D. Spicer (Ashburton). Favoured to win the race after his 50-mile title success on Saturday, in 2hr 6min 56sec, the Auckland rider, A. Connell, hit some sheep after 25 miles and had to retire.
