fN.Z.P .4. -Reuter—Copyright > PHILADELPHIA. Arnold Palmer on Saturday sank seven birdie putts for a 95. and a 207 tie with D. January. for the third round lead in the 110.000 dollar Philadelphia golf classic. January finished with a 09. Palmer's 05 put him seven strokes under par. G. Knudson, of Canada, also carded a 09 for a 203 over the 6708-yard Whitemarsh Valley Country Club coursa. He sank five birdie putts but missed a four-footer on the eighteenth green that would have tied him with the leaders.
D. Marr and B. Martindale, who were tied with January at the half-way point, shot a 72 and 76 respectively. Marr was three strokes off the pace at 210: Martindale faded to 214.
Grouped at 211 were B. Casper, the United States Open champion, who shot a 69, Australia's B. Crampton, who had a 70, and R. Goalby, who carded a 71.
Jack Nicklaus, the defending champion, turned in a 70 for a 212.
R. J. Charles, of New Zealand, shot a 74 for a 213. Australia's B. Devlin carded a 70 for a total 216.
