(N.Z.P.A. Reuter—Copyripht)
SOUTHAMPTON. Hampshire maintained its record of fine performances against touring sides by dismissing the West Indies for 191 and scoring 103 for two wickets in reply on the first day of the three-day match on Saturday. P. Lashley, with 73 in 162 minutes, was easily his side’s highest scorer in an innings which saw the West Indies lose their last seven wickets for only 52 runs. Hampshire began its reply with R. Marshall, a former West Indies test player, in sparkling form. He raced to 44 in an opening stand of 69 in 53 minutes before being dismissed and his opening partner, B. Reed, made 36. Now, only 88 runs behind with eight wickets in hand, Hampshire should gain a comfortable first innings lead. WEST INDIES First Dining*
