SIGHTED OFF IRELAND
Two Atlantic Rowers Well

Two British paratroopers who have been rowing across ;the Atlantic from the United States for 82 days were sighted 300 miles off Ireland yesterday. A Lloyds message from the Finnish motorship Finnalpino said Captain John Ridgway and Sergeant Charles Blyth were in good condition and headed for south-west Ireland. They started from Boston, Massachusetts, in their tiny English Rose 111. Strapped to their seats by a 20ft nylon line, they take turns sleeping on the boat’s floorboards.
Political Resignations.— Eighteen members of the Maharashtra State Legislature —including two Ministers—have resigned from the ruling Congress Party in protest against the State Government’s handling of two poli- • tical demonstrations last I week.—Bombay, August 28.
