GOOD CROP OF WHEAT

Prediction In Russia

f N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MOSCOW, Aug. 28. The Soviet wheat crop this year looks as if it will be a near record, experienced observers say.

The crop will probably be used to bolster the country’s long-depleted reserves.

The harvest predicted by the experts this year will be of at least 70 million tons, according to Soviet methods of calculation.

The main factor in the improvement has been the good weather. But a factor, growing in importance over recent vears, is increased use of fertilisers.

Higher Government payments to farmers for bumper crops is another.
