SYDNEY PAPER
First Issue Yesterday INS. Press Assn— Copyright) SYDNEY. Aug. 21. Sydney's fourth Sunday newspaper—the “SundayPunch”—made its first appearance today. A front-page panel described it as: “An independent newspaper aimed at giving the news behind the news—in others words what present Sydney newspapers won’t print." The newspapers said it cost 20 cents (about Is 7d) instead of the five cents (sd) because it did not accept advertising. “Other newspapers who accept advertising can afford to come out cheaper, but they are under pressure from the advertisers, and, in many cases, are afraid or unable to tell the full story," it said. The first issue of the “Sunday Punch” comprised 24 tabloid pages.
