Steadier Trend, But Falls Shade Rises
Trading followed a steadier trend at the close yesterday, but falls were still ahead of rises. Key stocks made most of the moves, with variations mainly narrow.
Turn-overs were down on all exchanges. Business was held to a moderate level on Christchurch with more interest in insurances and loan and agency. K.P. Drag recovered Is to 42s 6d and New Zealand Refining 3d to 40s. Wright Stephenson added Id to 32s lOd. McKenzies regained some ground with a 2d rise to Bs.
Insurances eased with New Zealand down 5d to 23s 3d and South British down 2d to 30s 2d. New Zealand Forest lost Id to 24s 3d, Seabrook Fowlds 3d to 16s 9d and Woolworths 3d to Ils 3d.
