Hearse Driver Collapsed

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 19. A runaway hearse, with the driver collapsed across the steering wheel, crashed into six parked cars in quick succession in Hill street, near Parliament Buildings, today. It was leading a funeral procession from the Basilica when it went out of control. The driver, Mr J. N. Taylor, was ♦■’■“n to Wellington Hospi’ ■ ar.bulance but was later al owed to return home. The funeral was delayed for 10 minutes till the hearse was replaced.

P.O. Burgled.—The sum of £3O was stolen when the Waipara Post Office was burgled on Thursday night. The sum of £3 was stolen from the Waipara store which was burgled on the same night.
