Snead Ties For Lead

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) AKRON (Ohio). The Americans, S. Snead and A. Geiberger, both shot two-under-par 68s to share the lead after the first round in the American P.G.A. golf championship today. The 54-year-old Snead, three times winner of the title, putted sensationally to become one of only five players in the field of 165 to break par. One stroke behind the leaders were J. Boros, D. Sanders and D. January. The co-favourites, A. Palmer and J. Nicklaus, had bad days, finishing with 755.
