A Commercial International Airlines Electra, with 38 people aboard, circled Houston international airport for nearly 40 minutes on Tuesday night with disabled landing gear, then flew to Carswell Air Force base for a wheels-up landing. The Electra skidded to a halt in a showei of sparks on a foam-covered runway at the Carswell base after a 300mile detour.
