Get The Most From A Sauna

To get the most out of a sauna bath in the home a few very easy, but equally important, steps should be followed. The baths are most beneficial if taken two or three times a week. The best time of day is shortly before retiring for the night. ' The reason for this is that the sauna removes both physical and mental tensions that build up during a day of even normal activity. Once the tensions are removed, the .sauna induces an ideal state for a restful and vigour-restoring night of full sleep To begin with, an ideal period in the bath is about 20 minutes increasing this time gradually to half an hour But one of the most important things to remember is to take a cold shower or tepid plunge immediately after the sauna. This closes the skin pores which have been opened by the heat in the bath. The cold water .also lowers the skin temperature and produces a pleasant tingling .sensation.
