Pulled Off Bank

The Walotahl was pulled off the mud bank at the mouth of the Waimakariri river by a bulldozer on Saturday afternoon. The Inter-Island Shipping Company’s 208-ton coastal vessel went aground on Friday afternoon when she was caught by the breakers as she entered the river mouth and was swung against the current on to the northern spit. No damage was done to the ship, which is now berthed at the Kaiapoi wharf. She was carrying 150 tons of general cargo from Wellington.
