Linwood had to wait until two minutes from time before W. b F. McCormick’s goal* kicking gave it a 12-9 win over Albion; and Christchurch only came to light and into a final lead in the late stages of the second half against Suburbs.
University B lost its undisputed lead in the D.C.L. Shield competition, going down to New Brighton, while MerivalePapanui is a point and a half ahead of High School Old Boys in the Challenge Cup (bottom five) competition. The latter team has a game in hand. Results:— Linwood 12, Albion 9. ’ Christchurch 14, Suburbs 8.
