KILLED BY HEAT WAVE

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright). ST. LOUIS (Missouri). July 13. At least 17 people have died in St Louis since Sunday as a result of a blistering heat wave in which temperatures have soared to more than 100 degrees. Most of the dead were old people, but one was a nine-month-old baby. Temperatures reached the 110 degree mark on Monday in another area of the MidWest north of St Louis. The readings were recorded at Pierre and Huron, South Dakota. The heat wave and the resulting demand for air conditioning caused power interruptions in St. Louis and eastern Nebraska.
