New Classrooms At Lyttelton Main

A new classroom block will be built at Lyttelton Main School, the Minister of Education (Mr Kinsella) has advised the member for the district, the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk). Several of the existing rooms were below standard size and one temporary room needed replacement, Mr Kinsella said. The Canterbury Education Board therefore proposed to build a new two-roomed block to replace the temporary room and to enable the five-room existing block to be remodelled to provide four classrooms of adequate size. The board has been authorised to accept a tender for the additions, the remodelling and for a new boilerhouse to provide heating for the whole school.
