SIR ATHOL FIT FOR WAIMATE

DUNEDIN. Sir Athol shewed that he had lost none of hl* speed on the fiat when he worked with bla stable-mate. Lord Fair, in preparation for the Morven Handicap. the feature mile event and the first leg of the Waimate Hunt Club's T.A.B. double en Monday. Lord Fair, Moiotone and Starson also impressed in their gallops. The work was done in ideal conditions. Most of the gallops were held On the plough, which was in splendid order Str Athol shaded Lord Fair at the end of half a mile in 52 2-ssec. the opening furlong tn 12 2-ssec.
Sir Athol, the winner of hl* last two races as a jumper is Also engaged in the Studhoime Hack Hurdles, but His trainer. S. McKay, said that he probably
would start in the Morven Handicap. Melotone <M. Parr) and Myfliou <G. 0. Finn) ran dear of Jolly Fox (J. R. Dowling) and MeGregor <H. A. Anderton) over five furlongs in Imin 7 2-ssec, the last three furlongs in tfisec. Starson (J. P. Kennedy) and Feza 'G. C. Mee) showed speed to run the distance in imin (sec. the first two furlongs In 2Ssec. Linred <P. McKay). Lucymal <R. A. Low) and Sweet Call <B. Blair) completed a round of solid pace work by running the last three furlongs in 4Lsec.
Castle Gregory <R. McKissock) galloped easily alongside Hy <J. R. Dowling) and Tara Hill (M. Parr), clear Of Side Saddle <G. 0. Finn) at the end Of six furlongs in Imin 22 2-ssec th* first three furlong* In 3» 3-Ssec.
