CAREEN SPEEDY Fine Trial At Trentham

(From dur Own Reporter) WELLINGTON. Careen, with a fast three furlongs, was outstanding at Trentham yesterday. Macdonald worked well in preparation for the Winter Hurdles on the third day of the Wellington winter meeting and Blue Stand, one of the Waikato visitors, also galloped soundly. The going on the trial grass was heavy.

Ridden by A. T. Jones, Careen sprinted three furlongs in 38 sec. A slow start dad not help Careen in the Whyte Handicap last Saturday. Early slowness counts heavily against her and could spoil, her chance again in the Onslow Handicap. Macdonald (Lawson) was better than Turtle (Lewis) over five furlongs, the last three in 40 2-ssec. Macdonald has beep carefully prepared for the Winter Hurdles and seems certain to go well. Blue Stand (Wilson) belt Revello '(Mauriri) by three lengths over seven furlongs in Imln 40 4-ss*c, the fastest part was the last three In 40sec. Blue Stand worked freely. He jumped well with Flying Swift on Monday. Revello galloped lazily. Sir Juvante (Jones) beat By Dare (Lawson) by a length over five furlongs, the last four in 54 l-ssec. Damar (Hampton) covered three furlongs in 44 1-5 sec. Watch It (Treweek) was better than Balleta (Mauriri) over three furlongs in 41 l-ssec.
