TO WORK AT HOTEL Two Maori Men Needed
(N.Z. Press Association) ROTORUA, July 14. Two Maori men will join the six girls who will fly to Surfers’ Paradise next week to act as hostesses for six months in the new Beachcomber Tiki Village Hotel. The men, like the girls, will be employed to look after the needs of the guests. They will be required to drive pleasure boats, take guests on excursions and probably act as bar stewards at certain times. Mr E. B. Leonard, Rotorua’s public relations officer, said today that at least one of the men, who must be more than 21, should be able to play the guitar fairly well. Mr Leonard has to find two suitable applicants before the girls go to Surfers’ Paradise on Wednesday.
Springston C.W.I.—A film afternoon was held by members of the Springston Country Women’s Institute to celebrate the institute’s 35th birthday. Mrs E. Tait presented Mrs P. Pugh with competition cups. Mrs Pugh had most points in all sections and most points in the cut blooms and decorative sections.
