Club To Be Used As Church
The Papanui Working Men's Club will be used as a temporary church by the 500 Roman Catholic families in the new Wairakei parish. The first mass would be celebrated in the club next Sunday. The club would be ! used until a new church hall !was built, the Rev. J. Curnow said. The club facilities were offered to Father Curnow when he discovered that there i were no community halls in [the new area. Until now evening masses have been i said in private homes during the week.
Buller Seat.— Mr W. Dohier, a schoolteacher, of Glenhope, has been chosen as Social Credit candidate for Buller.— (PA)
