RICHES TO RAGS?
H.5.0.8.’s Hard Task Winner—with the same 11 players—of last year’s senior men's hockey competition. High School Old Boys will probably be in the bottom four of this season’s competition. H.5.0.8.’s fate will be decided tomorrow when they meet the leaders, Hagley Old Boys, but even a win will probably not keep it in the top division. Hagley has 10 points. Woolston A Si and Harewooid. University and H. 5.0.8. eight. Woolston A is unlikely to lose to its B team, which has conceded 54 goals while scoring six. Similarly, Harewood and University should beat their opponents, Selwyn and Sydenham, respectively. University may be the most pressed but even if it should lose, will almost certainly stay in the top four if H. 5.0.8. loses to Hagley, as seems probable. University's present goals for-against ratio of 33-14 is far superior to that of H. 5.0.8. (17-14). Hagley is now in a very strong position to win the senior championship in its first season under that name. Even as West Old Boys, whose members form the basis of this year’s team, they never won the championship.
