Rain Near Bombay

BOMBAY, July 14.
. Heavy rain fell yesterday in the catchment areas of the two largest lakes which supply water to drought-hit Bombay, where emergency rationing is in force.
The downpour, which swept across the areas of Lakes Tansa and Vaitarana, raised hopes of relief' for this parched city of • 4,500,000 which has drawn up plans for a possible phased evacuation because of the apparent failure of the monsoon. Production at textile mills and factories was halted today in a fresh effort to save water. Water supplies are now limited to public utilities. hospitals, bakeries and cold storage plants.
Medical Team.— Britain is sending a medical team of four doctors and six nurses to work in a children’s hospital in Saigon, as technical assistance under the Colombo Plan. —London. July 14.
