Bank-rate Increased

LONDON, July 14.
Britain’s bank-rate—the key lending rate—was raised today from 6 per cent to 7 per cent.
The rise follows an increased trade deficit for the month of June, announced yesterday, and recent speculation against the pound in foreign exchange markets.
