Datsun may be assembled in New Zealand. At present the car is available only on overseas funds, the total cost being £1585 and the sterling requirement £647. The Datsun is powered by a 1973 c.c. six-cylinder engine which develops 109 b.h.p. at 5200 r.p.m. Maximum speed is quoted as 93 miles an hour, the car is 184.3 in long and 66.5 in wide, and has a turning circle of 37ft. A dual-barrel carburettor is fitted and the electrical system is 12 volts. There are three forward gears, all syn-

chromesh, and the change is by column lever. Drum brakes are fitted to all wheels. The unitary steel body is extensively-treated with rustproofing compounds and thoroughly insulated with glass wool, asphalt board and other materials. There is seating for six, the seats are upholstered in nylon fabric and armrests are fitted front and rear. The floor is carpeted. Instruments include speedometer with trip recorder, water and fuel gauges, ammeter, clock, and the usual warning lights, including one

for the handbrake. The equipment includes a heater with four-speed fan, screen washers and self-seeking radio with power-operated aerial. There are cigarette lighters for front and back seat passengers.

There are lights In glovebox, boot and under the bonnet, and individual reading lights for the rear-seat passengers. The boot is lined. The suspension is conventional, and the brakes are power-assisted. Bucket seats and automatic transmission are optional extras.
