50 YEARS A DIRECTOR
Mr C. G. Jarman Honoured
A special meeting of the board of directors of the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Association of Canterbury, Ltd., was held yesterday to record the outstanding service of Mr C. G. Jarman as a member of the board for 50 years. After the meeting, a dinner was held in further recognition of the occasion. Mr Jarman joined the board in June, 1916, after the retirement from the board of
his grandfather, Mr James Gough, who was a foundation director of the association in 1881 and served continuously on the board until succeeded by his grandson. Apart from his active interest in the affairs of the association throughout his halfcentury of service to the board, Mr Jannan took a leading part in many activities of community significance. He was appointed to the committee of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association in 1918 and after serving continuously was its president in 1933. Later he was also president of the Courtenay A. and P. Association and subsequently its patron. He was a member of the Malvern County Council for 15 years and of the Lincoln College Council for a similar period. Nesslea Estate, the property founded by Mr James Gough last century, is still farmed by members of the family.
