Simons In Form
E. Simons, the present Canterbury billiards champion was in magnificent form a* the second round games concluded last evening. In his game with D. Collie at the Woolston Working Men's Club he compiled breaks of 73 and 52 before the 200 mark and from that point he was seldom in danger of defeat. When Simons is In form his "In off" shot* into th* centre pocket flow from his cue and few players in New Zealand are able to stem his consistent scoring. Collie, although overshadowed gave a performance that would nave matched most players in the competition. D. Hallam scored the easiest win of the round when he outplayed N. Thomas in all facets of the game to win 300 to 188. Hallum's best break* were 8* and 43. F. Blackburn scored a minor surprise when ,h* convincingly beat his Christchurch Working Men's Club team-mat* and numbar one player, V. Choate, soo to 37*. This wa* a most encouraging performance by Blackburn and nis third round game with Helium will be watched with Interest. T. Yesburg (Richmond) defeated W. Adam* (Kalapoi W.M.C.), 800-429, scoring breaks of 57, 80, and 4*.
