LOW-FLYING RESTRICTED

Sequel To Air Crashes (N.Z.P.A.-Heuter—Copyright) BONN, June 19. The West German Defence Minister (Mr K. U. Von Hassel) has imposed restrictions on low-flying by military aircraft after recent crashes. The latest crashes involved the disaster-plagued Star fighter, two of which came down off the Dutch coast last Monday, bringing the total loss of German Starflghters to 58 and the toll of pilot’s lives to 32. Mr Von Hassel ordered that the minimum for low-level flying be raised from 250 ft to 500 ft and the close formations must no longer fly under 1000 ft. The 700-strong Starfighter fleet has been grounded twice for investigations.
