ANCIENT PEOPLE

Traces In Peru (N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) LIMA, June 19. A French archaeologist has discovered what he believes may be the remains of a civilisation that flourished in Peru some 60 centuries ago. According to the archaeologist, Mr Frederic Engel, bones and artifacts he uncovered on a ridge in the Caracoles range of hills, about 35 miles south of Lima, indicated the presence of a prehistoric civilisation of negroid people similar to those of South-east Asia.

He said they seemed to be an offshoot of the protomongokrids of North Asia.
