£2000 RISE IN GRANT

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. An increase in a Government grant will allow the New Zealand Olympic and British Empire Games Association to add five athletes to the A category of the New Zealand team for the Jamaica Commonwealth Games. The grant from the Golden Kiwi fund to the association was increased by £2OOO to £14,000.

The new A category athletes are M. R. Ryan and R. V. Hargreaves (athletics), L. H. W. Brown and Miss H. L. Kerr (swimming). The fifth A selection will be one of the eight fencing representatives.
