KNOWLEDGE DENIED

Johnson-Ky Meeting (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) HONOLULU, June 16. General Westmoreland, the United States commander in Vietnam, arrived in Honolulu yesterday for what were described as “routine consultations” with the United States Commander-in-Chief, Pacific Forces, Admiral Sharp. He denied any knowledge of any summit conference between President Johnson and South Vietnam’s Prime Minister, Nguyen Cao Ky during his visit to Honolulu.

After the last Johnson-Ky meeting in February, Mr Johnson hinted that a second conference might be held this summer to review progress in the war and pacification plans.
