CARS WITHOUT GARAGES

Private Meters Proposed

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, June 14.

The “own your own parking meter” may come to Sydney soon.

The City Council Is considering a proposal to give people who live in the city area their own lock-up parking meters. The plan Is being considered for residents of city streets who have no garages. They would get personal meters outside their houses, and would have a special key with which they could cause an “engaged” signal to show on the meter.

Council aidermen are reported to be concerned that city residents have problems parking outside their own homes, because the spaces are taken by out-of-town motorists.

The scheme has been heavily attacked In the presa as unfair and unworkable.
