BALLOT SALE TOMORROW
Old Heathcote Schoolhouse A house in Port Hills road, bought for the use of the headmaster of Heathcote School 50 years ago, will be sold by ballot tomorrow. There are two applicants for the house and land, which could be subdivided into two sections. The property is being offered by the Lands and Survey Department for £lB5O, either freehold or deferred payment, on a minimum deposit of £370. The house is a square villa, typical of 1915 construction with four bedrooms, lounge, kitchen, pantry and bathroom. An electric range and four open fire places are among the fittings. On Friday, the department will hold a ballot for 42 sections in the Bishopdale area, one each at Burnside and Northcote and two at Kaiapoi. The department has received 115 applications for the 46 sections.
During the last six months 150 Crown land sections have been sold by ballot. The department aims in future to open fresh applications for sections immediately after ballots have been held.
