SEAMEN’S STRIKE

No Support By F.O.L (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 14. The Federation of Labour would follow the lead of the British Trades Union Congress and would not support the seamen’s strike in the meantime, said the president of the Federation of Labour (Mr T. E. Skinner) today. The reply to the federation’s cable to the T.U.C. would be considered at the federation’s next executive meeting on June 27. The reply said the T.U.C. had told the Seamen’s Union that it regretted the union’s refusal to negotiate a settlement and, therefore, could not recommend its affiliated unions to support the seamen’s request for an extension of the strike. The T.U.C. cable added that the decision had been left to individual unions.
