No Effect Yet On Investment
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 14. Recent measures by the British Government to restrict overseas investment had not yet had any marked effect on the New Zealand economy, the Minister of Finance (Mr Lake) said in Parliament today. ■ He was replying to Mr A. McCready (Govt., Otaki). “In broad terms, the United Kingdom has provided -about half the total overseas investment in New Zealand,” Mr Lake said. “The greater part of this comes from the reinvestment of profits and it appears that this will not be reduced under the measures.”
