EXCHANGE OF DUTY

R.N.ZA.F. Officer In Britain IProm the London Correspndt of “The Press'’] LONDON, June 8. Flight Lieutenant Robin Klitscher, of the R.N.ZA..F. and formerly of Dunedin, has found no difficulty in adapting himself to the ways of the Royal Air Force. At present he is half-way through a two-year exchange visit and is working as a flying instructor on Jet Provost aircraft at Little Rissington R.A.F. station in Gloucestershire. He said the systems adopted by the respective air forces were nearly identical, and he found little hardship in changing from using the Harvard aircraft when he was at Wigram, near Christchurch, to the Provosts. Flight Lieutenant Klitscher, whose parents now live in Taupo, has his family—wife and two children—with him in England. While he was keen to get home again he felt there was a tremendous amount of work to do at the base both at his job and outside it.

He joined the R.N.Z.A.F. 10 years ago as a pilot officer and for two years and a half was stationed at Fiji where he was working on Sunderland aircraft. So far he has not had much time to tour England, except parts of Cornwall but before he goes back he hopes to be able to take his family around the country. Flight Lieutenant Klitscher, the only man on the base in a khaki uniform, misses New Zealand sunshine.
