Yorkshire’s Sixth Win Of Season

While Sussex was boosting England's hopes for the second test at Lord's on Thursday by inflicting the first defeat on the West Indian cricketers, the county championship leader, Yorkshire, romped to its sixth win of the season.

Yorkshire beat Derbyshire bv an innings and 15 runs after taking eight minutes of the extra half-hour on the second day. Derbyshire could never eope with accurate and lively bowling in helpful conditions. Its last seven wickets in the first innings fell for only eight runs to Trueman, Nicholson and Illingworth, and it followed on 169 runs behind. It was the first team to follow on in a 65-over experimental rule match. Derbyshire was all out for 89 (Nicholson four for 22, Illingworth three for seven) and 154 (Close three for 20).
