No Automatic Aid
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 14. Defendants in naval courts martial were not automatically entitled to financial assistance, the Minister of Defence (Mr Eyre) said in Parliament today. Mr N. V. Douglas (Opp., Auckland Central) had asked if the Government had agreed to pay the legal expenses of Commander H. R. Simmonds in his court martial after the break-down of H.M.N.Z.S. Royalist. Mr Eyre said the matter would be considered by the Naval Board.
Hong Kong Telegrams.— Telegrams to and from Hong Kong, particularly in the Kowloon area, would be subject to delay until further notice because of heavy rain and flooding, the Chief Postmaster in Christchurch (Mr M. E. Wilson) said yesterday.
