No Automatic Aid

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 14. Defendants in naval courts martial were not automatically entitled to financial assistance, the Minister of Defence (Mr Eyre) said in Parliament today. Mr N. V. Douglas (Opp., Auckland Central) had asked if the Government had agreed to pay the legal expenses of Commander H. R. Simmonds in his court martial after the break-down of H.M.N.Z.S. Royalist. Mr Eyre said the matter would be considered by the Naval Board.
