The British Government’s message to her six partners in the European Launcher Development Organisation on June 3 did not notify them of the intention to withdraw from E.L.D.0., the Foreign Secretary, Mr Michael Stewart, told the House of Commons yesterday. “It stated that we felt unable to take any further part in financing the E.L.D.O. programme beyond the extent to which we were already committed," Mr Stewart said, in reply to questions. “There was no question of our seeking to act in breach of the treaty. “We proposed to carry out such commitments as we had," Mr Stewart said.
