Otago Farmer Wins Trip

Mr A. Girvan, of the Milbum Young Farmers’ Club, Otago, won the national radio contest when the federation of Young Fanners’ Clubs concluded its annual conference in Christchurch. Mr Girvan, aged 22, was one of three finalists in the contest, the first prize of which is a trip to Australia. Mr Girvan farms a fat-lamb property of 250 acres at Waihola, with his father and a brother. It ranges from flat to steep country. The property carries 1100 breeding ewes. The other two finalists were Mr G. Stewart, of Wairoa, and Mr B. Meickleson, of Taihape.
