No Lions’ Complaints

[From Our Rugby Reporter] INVERCARGILL.

To lose the opening match of a major tour is a bitter disappointment for any team, but the 1966 British Lions took their defeat by Southland with good grace. The manager (Mr D. J. O’Brien) and the captain M. J. Campbell-Lamer-ton) paid full tribute to the great performance of the Southland team and neither in public nor private were complaints heard from the Lions. Nevertheless, it was a quiet Lions team after the match, and no doubt there will be some serious thinking and new tactics considered before the next match at Timaru.
