61 Chosen For Games

A team of 61 competitors to represent New Zealand in the Empire Games at Kingston, Jamaica, in August, was announced last night in Wellington by the chairman of the New Zealand Olympic and British Empire Games Associaiton (Mr C. L. S. Cross). The team consists of 42 competitors in category A and 19 in category B. Those in the first group will be required to contribute £5O each towards their fares and the remainder will have to find the full amount of £425. The Canterbury athlete, A. G. Pyne, who is studying at an American university, has been given until June 30 to produce satisfactory times over one and three miles. Consideration of his case has been held over until that date.
