Decision On New Lynn On May 7

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 21. The Labour candidate to contest the New Lynn seat at the General Election will be selected on May 7.

The date has been fixed by the national executive which ordered that nominations be reopened, closing on May 3. The present member, Mr H G. R. Mason, aged 80, who is at present in Australia, wants another term in Parliament. He has still given no indication to the New Lynn InterBranch Council, which unanimously supports his candidature, whether he intends to fight the national executive's decision to drop him from the approved list of candidates. The selection date is two days before the annual con-

ference of the party opens in Wellington. It is expected the national executive will seek endorsement from the conference of its action on the subject. The Auckland Labour Representation Committee will write to the national office asking that the selection be postponed until after the Wellington conference. A six-man panel will select the New Lynn candidate. There will be three members from the national office and three from the New Lynn branch.
