Timaru Celtic Wins Final (N.Z. Press Association) TIMARU, April 11. Invercargill Marist robbed itself of almost certain victory over Timaru Celtic in the final of the South Island Roman Catholic Rugby tournament at Fraser Park, Timaru, today. A tap penalty near the end of the game was smothered by the fast Celtic men, and the match ended 6-5 to the home side. Earlier in the day, Greymouth Marist lost to Timaru Celtic in the semi-final. Invercargill reached the final in a good display against Christchurch Marist. Other results were:—St. Mary’s 12. Nelson Marist 9; Blenheim Marist 11, Ashburton Celtic 0. Dunedin 16, Gore St. Mary’s 0: Hokitika 16, Blenheim 5: Nelson 3. Dunedin 0; Ashburton 8, Gore 5; Greymouth 10, Christchurch 9.
