SKILL, STAMINA IN GO-KART TRIUMPH

A smooth blending of stamina and skill enabled the Foxton driver, V. Kendall to triumph in the gruelling champion of champions event on the final day of the New Zealand go-kart title meeting at the Carrs road circuit, Halswell, yesterday.

Kendall showed his skill in winning the open B class championship, for the more powerful go-karts. From then

on it was as much a matter of stamina as it was of driving ability, for the champion of champions contestants were called on to repeat their group performance of six races, each of them consisting of eight laps of the 500 yd circuit.

Some of the drivers who had qu&llfied for the champon of champions contest withdrew. But Kendall carried on resolutely to gain the victory which marked him as the outstanding com petltor of the meeting. In his quest for the top honours he drove bls go-kart 27 mines yesterday, and hta time of 3min 9.6 sec for one of the eight-lap races was only 0 tore slower than the meeting's fast est time, which he established on the first day on Saturday. A second competitor to achieve dual success yesterday was Mrs Norma Triplow, of Levin. She was the only competitor to com pCete the required number of laps in the women's 100 c.c. event, and she went on to beat the 14-year-ond Ttmaru driver Carole Brady, tn the women s often championship.
