ROVER SCOUTS’ MOOT

Trophies
A trip to Mount Grey and Lake Janet on Saturday was one of the highlights of the Dominion rover scout moot held at the Blue Skies camping and training ground at Kaiapoi during Easter. The 56 rover scouts and officers attending the moot, who represented 12 crews from Auckland to Dunedin, all went on the trip, and most of them reached the summit of Mount Grey. Service projects undertaken during the week-end included clearing the area around the cairn at Woodend which marks the site of the first scout camp held in New Zealand, and topping the poplars which border the 15-acre camping ground at Kaiapoi.

The moot closed at midday yesterday with a “Flag Down" ceremony and the presentation of trophies by the camp chief (Mr C. Cook). Competition results were:— Harriers: I. Hibbard (Mornington crew) 1, W. Knowles (Wapiti) 2, P. Smith (Mornington) 3; teams race: Mornington 1, Combined Christchurch 2, Whaitaitai 3.
