PAGODA CLOSED

South Vietnam’s Buddhists today closed down the Saigon pagoda and administrative headquarters, which have been the starting point for recent street demonstrations in the capital. A brief statement said the Vien Hoa Dao centre would be closed for several days for renovation and repairs. The order was signed by the Venerable Thich Tam Chau, who has been taking a moderate line in the monthold campaign for a chans; from military to civilian gj’ernment.
