COMPANY’S FOUNDERS
Associates Pay Tribute Tributes were paid to Messrs H. Wooff and E. T. Salvesen, founders of the Christchurch electrical company which bears their names, at a social function held in the Winter Garden last evening to mark their retirement. Mr A. Brough, a director of Joseph Lucas (N.Z.), Ltd., on behalf of his fellow directors. presented each man with an inscribed silver water jug. Mr G. Steel, general manager of Weld Well (N.Z.), Ltd., presented gold cuff-links to each, and Mr J. B. MacFarlane, the general manager of Wooff and Salvesen, Ltd., on behalf of the staff, gave each a cheque. Mr N. Okey, the second longest serving member of the company’s staff, briefly outlined the growth of the company. “They have built a very good business. It is now up to us who will cany on to see that this progress is continued,” he said. Both guests of honour then spoke of their indebtedness to each other and to the staff who had joined the firm during the years of its expansion.
