“A Sick Society”

Sir,—How refreshing it is to read the report of the Rev. R. A. Lowe’s address to the Jaycees, particularly after reading the report earlier in the week of Christchurch being “a sick society.” How the image of the church suffers as a result of ill-considered statements and their usual preoccupation with sex and beer. Has society become sicker since women have enjoyed emancipation? We churchmen must not fall into the trap of our “sisters” but must strive to see that the “female” image of the- church is not allowed to gain ascendency over the Bob Lowes of our church.—Yours, etc., SYNODSMAN. April 4, 1966.
