Promotion In Canada
A New Zealand catering expert, Mr Alan Tremain, of Christchurch, will visit Canada in April and May for the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board to take part in its Canadian promotion campaign for New Zealand lamb.
Mr Tremain is catering consultant for South Pacific Hotels, a national chain of tourist hotels owned and operated by New Zealand Breweries Limited. He has also been a member of the lamb cookery advisory panel set up by the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board, and is at present manager of the Hotel Russley, Christchurch. Mr Tremain took his early training in catering in London, was a chef at various London hotels and at Warner’s, Christchurch, for five years. He holds several overseas diplomas and has won many prizes in culinary exhibitions. He is a fellow of the Food and Cookery Association of the United King-
dom, and a member of the International Society of Chefs de Cuisine. He is a foundation member of the New Zealand Hotel Chefs’ Association. Canada is New Zealand’s principal market for lamb outside the United Kingdom. Mr Tremain will meet members of the catering industry and home economics teachers in Canada. This year’s lamb campaign is paying special attention to Vancouver in Hie west and Toronto in the east. Mr Tremain will also visit Buffalo and Rochester in New York State, where the meat board has promotion programmes.
